On Wednesday, September 21st, Transition Consulting Group and an expert team of family business representatives gathered to present our first “So You’re In The Family Business” Webcast series on Surviving and Thriving Through Generations.

Joined by Cady Zildjian, 15th Generation of the Avedis Zildjian Company, Marcia Galvin, 9th Generation of Normandy Farms Campground and Matt Salmon, 3rd Generation of Salmon Health & Retirement, we discussed:

• Entry criteria in their family businesses, and whether there are formal ‘rules’ to begin work at the family business
• Reporting structures and governance in their family businesses, and the differences seen between family and non-family leadership
• The opportunities and challenges presented by succession of leadership in their family businesses
• The career paths that led each member of our panel back to their family’s business
• The culture and value differences seen in multi-generational families, and the methods each member of the panel utilized to ensure that the values and legacy of their business are communicated
