I like Daniel Goleman’s post on steps for making a vacation last. Click here to check it out.
Vacations present an opportunity to decompress, to tune-out the typical day-to-day stressors and to tune-in to family and friends. And yes, even yourself! And don’t you really owe that to yourself?
With a long Labor Day Week-end soon at hand, we’ve got an opportunity to try these 3 steps. And I’d like to add a 4th, try leaving your Blackberry or iPhone turned off. Impossible? Not necessarily, try it for one day to see what happens. OK, maybe try it for a half-day. Just leave it on a table, not in your pocket. Yes, you’ll probably have some emails, but how many of them were “urgent?” Urgent enough to distract you from your priority- to be on vacation?
